 Wen Xiaobo was born in Shicheng County, Jiangxi Province in October 1967. He is a professor and Ph.D. supervisor. He is a member of the Academic Committee of Key Lab. of Fish Germplasm Resources & Biotechnology, Ministry of Agriculture, editorial board member of Freshwater Fisheries and Guangdong Feed, as well as the member of Aquaculture Nutrition and Feed Committee, China Society of Fisheries.

  Wen has chaired 21 scientific research projects, some atnational and provincial levels, and published about 40 academic papers. His major research interests include: nutrient requirements of economic aquatic animals for fatty acids, gene expression and regulation of fatty acid synthetase of economic aquatic animals, flavor quality of economic aquatic animals, and immunity additive and growth promoter for aquatic animals.

  Wen’s awards are as follow:

  1. First Prize of the “2005 Shanghai Advanced Award of Science and Technology” (ranking 4th) for the research project “Nutrient Requirements of Mitten Crab and Environmental-friendly Compound Feed Development”
  2. First Prize of the “2005 Hubei Awards for Teaching Achievements” for the pedagogical research project “Cultivation of Aquiculture Professionals and Integrated Research & Practice of Related Curriculum” (ranking 2nd)
  3. Hubei Advanced Learner of University Management Theory in 2004

Wen currently supervises Ph.D.s in Hydrobiology (Science), and Animal Nutrition and Feed (Agriculture), as well as M.M.s in Hydrobiology (Science) and Aquiculture (Agriculture).

The courses Wen has taught include:

    • undergraduate program: Animal Science, Feeding Biology and Fish Ecology, etc.
    • master’s program: Advanced Hydrobiology, Advanced Aquatic Animal Nutrition and Feed
    • doctoral program: Advanced Hydrobiology Development (the content of “economic aquatic animal nutrition”)
