Li Ka Shing Foundation will donate HKD 2 billion to STU in the next 8 years

 

Recently, Li Ka Shing Foundation (“LKSF”) has announced that it will give a series of donations totaling HKD 2 billion for STU to support its development.

 

STU is cofounded by the Ministry of Education, Guangdong Province and Li Ka Shing Foundation, which has gained the support from the famous patriot and international well-known entrepreneur Li Ka Shing. Up to now, Li Ka Shing Foundation has remarked grants of over HK 10 billion to STU.

 

Mr. Li Ka Shing has repeatedly expressed that his support for STU will go beyond the limits of his life. In recent years, with the support of the government and Li Ka Shing Foundation, STU sticks firmly to the principle that education should be international and meticulous, and it also carries out comprehensive reforms on the educational pattern, scientific research and academic quality and school management system, which makes great achievements. Thus, its education quality and level are widely accepted by higher education sector at home and abroad.

 

Established in 1980, the Li Ka Shing Foundation (LKSF) has invested over HK$20 billion to work on education, medical services and research initiatives in 27 countries and regions, with over 80% of our projects located within the Greater China region. Li Ka Shing Foundation has announced that it will give a series of donations totaling HKD 2 billion for STU in the next 8 years to support its development.

 

Since 2002, STU has carried out “Sun Finance” and continuously improved the level of financial management and service quality. The budget committee is formed by teachers and staff from different departments, and the overall proposal is posted on STU’s official information website. All students and faculty can question the proposal. Since 2001, in order to enhance the reliability and impartiality of financial data, STU has engaged Price Waterhouse Coopers as the independent third party to audit its financial data each year. STU release its annual budget and final accounts to the public every year. STU also publishes the annual financial report on its annual journal and the campus website. STU opens its annual financial information to the society, explains the uses of funds to the fund providers, and ultimately gain the fund providers’ trust to make sure that the funds for disciplinary development, professional construction and talent training are arranged reasonably and used efficiently. Principle Jiang Hong said that STU will adhere strictly to financial management regulations and respect the wishes of the donors to use the funds reasonably to accelerate the construction and development of STU.
