On April 5th, Shantou University’s cadre meeting was held in the science and technology lecture hall, and the appointments and dismissals of Shantou University’s principal and party secretary was announced on the meeting. According to the Provincial party committee organization department’s decision, Jiang Hong would assume the office of the principal and party secretary of Shantou University, and Song Yaozhen would no longer fill a post.

In Jiang hong’s speech, she expressed her gratitude to the Provincial government and Li Ka-shing Foundation for their trust, and she said it was a great honor for her to be a member of Shantou University. Besides, she also expressed her strong will to struggle with everyone in the future. Jiang Hong said, as a principal and party secretary, she had a clear understanding of her glorious mission and great responsibility, so she would try her best to be a responsible person and execute the following duties. The first one is to adhere to the socialism school direction and strive to cultivate the socialist builders and successors. The second one is to be brave to be responsible to implement the requirements of the Party. The third one is to comprehensively deepen reform and opening up to identify the university’s development direction, so that we could form a unique pattern. The fourth one is to follow the rule of higher education and respect Shantou University’s cultural traditions, so that we could achieve inheritance and innovation. At the end of her speech, she said that she believed Shantou University would become an advanced and internationally known high-level university.
