Recently, QS Intelligence Unit sent the result of 2016 QS World University Star Rating to Shantou University. Shantou University was rated as the four-star university, and its teaching level,  employability, campus facilities, and capacity was rated as five-star.

QS Star Rating is rated by Quacquarelli Symonds every year, the complete set of rating system rates the universities from one to five stars by over fifty kinds indexes from eight categories. It not only includes the overall rating, but also includes the ratings of teaching level, employability, research achievement, internationalization, campus facilities, social responsibility, capacity and the research of business and management. QS Star Rating contains wider standards, so that it could use a more comprehensive way to compare the universities and provides more abundant evidence for its evaluations.
