On April 10, 2016, the Medical College building was completed and passed the quality acceptance.

The construction of this building was started from the October in 2013. Thanks to its wonderful design and the educational idea of Medical College, it had received many attentions from the society. With great support from the Shantou government, Shantou University and Li Ka Shing Foundation, the building was finally completed and passed the quality acceptance.

The vice president of Shantou University, Ulam Haas, and the president of Medical College, Bian Junhui made speeches and closing remarks for the school and the college to give compliments for construction units and Shantou government, and they also pointed out that construction units should finish the refurbishment as soon as possible so that the students could start their study in the building.

The new building can accommodate nearly 3000 students and 550 teachers, and it also contains all kinds of facilities, so that the needs of students can be fully satisfied. It covers an area of 49333 square meters, and its floorage is 39205 square meters.

With the great support of Li Ka Shing Foundation, the German design company Herzog & de Meuron Basel Ltd. Is the design consultant, and the design concept is that the main building is located in the beautiful subtropical landscape environment with perfect educational functions.

Many small classrooms would be set up for the students so that the educational idea could be further implemented. On the other hand, advanced teaching equipment would be introduced to construct a simulated medical center, which would improve the education quality of Medical College and promote the reform and development of medical education.
