From May 6th to May 8th, the final of ‘FLTRP Cup’ National English Debating Competition South China Region was held in Southern Medical University, Guangzhou.

Under the leadership of the teahers of English Language Center, Collin Tham and Anthea Tse , Zheng Liangshu who is the student of Cheung Kong School of Journalism and Communication from Grade 2014 and Zhang Qing who is the student of Business School from Grade 2013 were the representatives of STU to participate in this competition. After the fierce rivalry among 130 college teams of 12 provinces in Southern China region, Shantou University students ranked first in the total team score in the tournament, and thus they entered the final of South China Region.  Eventually, they won the runner-up and were promoted to the national final. In spite of the first prize and the ‘ Best Debater’ award got in the South China division, the runner-up they won this time is considered as another major breakthrough in the history of STU’ s participation in ‘FLTRP Cup’ National English Debating Competition

From May 18th to May 24th, the final of 19th ‘FLTRP Cup’ National English Debating Competition will be held in Beijing Foreign Studies University. At that time, Shantou University debaters will compete with the excellent debaters from East China, West China, North China and South China.
