On April 22, Lin Yanzhi, the dean of Guangdong Shunde Industrial Design and Research Institute, signed the contract of postgraduate student’s joint cultivation with Shantou University.

At three o’clock in the afternoon, the signing ceremony and the symposium was held in the No. 3 conference room of academic exchange center. The vice President Ulam haas, the executive vice president of the graduate school Li Shengping, the vice president WangJianhua, the deputy secretary Lin Lushui, the deputy director of research department Li Rundian, the director of biology department Ling Yue, the director of department of mechanical and electronic engineering Zhao Yongjie, the director of Cheung Kong School of Art and Design Zhuang Wei attended this ceremony.

Ulam haas warmly welcomed the guests and introduced the situation of the reform and development of Shantou University. He pointed out that Shantou University gained great achievements in scientific research innovation thanks to the support of the provincial government and Li Kashing foundation. He also thanked Guangdong Shunde Industrial Design and Research Institute for their support of Shantou University graduate students social practice work, and he hoped to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the institute based on the cooperative innovation platform, so that it could make the graduate student education more practical.

Lin Yanzhi introduced the basic situation of Guangdong Shunde Industrial Design and Research Institute. He pointed out that the institute was formally established in 2014, and it served as a talent aggregation platform which combined the graduate student joint training, enterprise services and science and technology achievements transformation together. He hoped that through the good cooperation with STU it could provide a practical and innovative platform for the graduate student, and realize the integration of education and training of innovative talents.

After the signing ceremony, Lin Yanzhi visited the Cheung Kong industrial design center, the medical school, the library, the student enterprise zone, the sports park and Guangdong Israel institute of technology with the accompany of the deputy director of the Cheung Kong industrial design center Liang Qiang and the director of the campus planning and construction Liu Jinhua.

According to the agreement, STU and Guangdong Shunde Industrial Design and Research Institute would carry out the joint cultivation in the professional master degrees of engineering and art. In 2016, it would firstly carry out in the field of engineering and bioengineering. The joint training applied the binary tutor system. Students would study theoretical knowledge in Shantou University in the first year, and in the second year, they would receive the practical teaching in Guangdong Shunde Industrial Design and Research Institute and participate in project research and development.
