At 11am April 16th, 2016, the forth City-3 Touch Rugby series, held by SCAU rugby
took place in the Shenzhen Bay Sports Center. This is an elite Touch Rugby competition in South China.
With the competition level increasing, our opponents are becoming more competitive. In the past, the teams were mostly from different universities, now there are clubs and university teams. This year there were 12 teams representing Division 2, coming from Hong Kong, Foshan, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou. As there were more teams from clubs, the competition was fierce!
This year two teams represented STU to take part the City-3 Touch Rugby Division 2. The team names are STU Phoenix and STU Eagle. Last year’s Cup Champion STU Phoenix, won Foshan Sharks by 2:1, Shenzhen Seahawks and Petrol Engine by 1:0, and team L-Crazy by 3:0. STU Phoenix won 4 games in a row, bringing them just 1 point away from team LUK, placing STU Phoenix 2nd place. In the semi-finals STU Phoenix and Team Nuts were up against each other fighting for Plate Champion.plate final. After a fierce competition STU Phoenix lost, coming in 4th place.
Consisting most newcomer players, STU Eagle is to let STU students experience and learn. Through this competition, STU Eagle gained tactical experience, preparing themselves for next competition.
