On April 5th, Shantou Municipal Party Committee Secretary Chen Liangxian visited the school library and the student entrepreneurship center, and he also attended the orientation meeting of Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of technology. Chen said that Shantou University was an important pillar of Shantou’s technology and economy, so the government would tried their to promote the development Shantou University.

The associate librarian Zhang Lihua showed Chen and his companions around the library. Being impressed by the beautiful environment in the library, Chen expressed his gratitude and respect to Mr. Li Ka Shing for his great contribution to Shantou’s development.

On the other hand, the director of Student Entrepreneurship Center Li Rundian introduced the major projects to Chen. After watching the performance of the robot hand, Chen showed his appreciation to Student Entrepreneurship Center for its successful integration of study and   manufacture. He said that in the future the center would become cradle of enterprises, and the government of Jinping district should take concrete actions to promote the students' innovative undertaking, which would also promote the development of the society.

After listening to the report about Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of technology, Chen pointed out that the establishment of Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of technology was a hard-won opportunity for Shantou, which had united people’s great efforts in it. Chen said that the whole government should spare no effort to promote the development of Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of technology, so that it would become an important pillar of Shantou’s technology.
