Professor Guan Yi’s team won the Grand Prize of 2017 National Science and Technology Progress Award

 

On January 8th, National Science and Technology Awards Conference was held in the Great Hall of the People. Cooperated with Zhejiang University and Chinese Centre for Disease, the research team led by Professor Guan Yi won the Grand Prize of 2017 National Science and Technology Progress Award for the project which was about the prevention of infectious diseases.

 

Shantou University, as the main research institute, is responsible for the risk assessment of the traceability, evolution, pathogenicity and transmission of new infectious diseases like H7N9. This award shows that Guangdong Province and the National Health System have made an important breakthrough. The research results of the project have significantly promoted the international influence of China, which represents a milestone in the field of infectious disease prevention and control.

 

Professor Guan Yi’s team has been studied the origin, evolution, and variation of the virus for a long time. The epidemic detection system, the innovation system of clinical medicine and the research results of Professor Guan Yi’s team has formed a complete system for the prevention and treatment of new infectious diseases.
