STU Medical College won the first prize in the seventh National Medical College Students Clinical Skills Competition of Southern China division

 

Recently, the seventh National Medical College Students Clinical Skills Competitionof Southern China division, which was hosted by the medical education clinical teaching research center of the education department and Jinan University, was held in Jinan University. 13 medical college teams that were from Guangdong, Guangxiand Hainan province took part in the competition. The five clinical medicine trainees of the first affiliated hospital, Yang Lihua, Zheng Zongtai, Wu Xiaoqin, Li Chao, Huang Huie, won the first prize and got the qualification for the finals. 

 

There were four phases in the competition, including preliminary, repechage,intermediarte and final contests. This competition was demanding to the students because it included the knowledge of internal medicine, surgery, gynecology,obstetrics, pediatrics, ophthalmic, otolaryngology, dermatology, infectious department, clinical laboratory, nursing and emergency. It comprehensivelymeasured the students’ clinical ability, knowledge, professionalism, communication skills and team cooperation. The preliminary and repechage adopted the multi station pattern, the semi-final used the track model, and the final used theintegrated case as the main content. 

 

The medical school attached great importance to the competition. After the selection, these five students received the medical school intensive training under the guidance of the instructors.

 

In the preliminary, the medical team got in the top five and advanced to the semi-final. The students made full use of their theoretical knowledge and finished theoperations in the semi-final successfully, and thus reached the final with excellent performance. Eventually, they won the first prize and got the qualification for the final.
