Two principals expressed that they would make Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology be a world-class university

 

On the evening of April 27, Li Jiange, the principal of Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, met Aaron Ciechanover, the executive vice president in Beijing. On the banquet, they all expressed their great attention to the preparation of Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, and emphasized that they would try their best to get the formal approval of the Ministry of Education in this year. They both believed that Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology would become a world-class university through sincere cooperation and joint efforts.

 

Aaron Ciechanover was a distinguished research professor of Israel institute of technology, and he was also the winner of 2004 Nobel Prize in chemistry. Professor Aaron won numerous awards, including the 2000 Albert Lasker Award, 2003 Israel Award, and he won the 2004 Nobel Prize in chemistry together with Dr Hirsch and Dr Ross. In September 2015, Professor Aaron took up the post of the executive vice president of Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology.

 

Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology was founded by Israel institute of technology and Shantou University. It will be a high-level Chinese-foreign cooperation university with the qualification of independent legal entity. The preparation work has progressed well. The north campus, covering an area of 102.85 mu and possessing the building area of 101700 square meters, is under construction. It is scheduled for delivery before the end of march of next year. As a major project in the cooperation between the two countries, the provincial government attaches great importance to it. Shantou municipal government, Shantou University and the related provincial departments are trying to get the formal approval to start the student  enrollment in accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Education. At the same time, Israel institute of technology will continue to recruit Guangdong students to study in campus of Haifa in Israel in 2016.
