Review | Melodious Strings, Spotlight on “Her” Brilliance

 With the spring in full bloom and clear skies and bright moon, the sound of strings lingers in the mind, and thoughts collide with it. Everyone expresses their own opinions and speaks freely, discussing the story of “her”.

Spring Garden Concert

On March 8th, Esther Hall hosted a Spring Garden Concert featuring the renowned“D Tune Chamber Music” ensemble. The delightful weather with warm breezes and sunny skies added to the overall charm of the event, which was attended by students and guests alike.

The ensemble’s mesmerizing performances of classic compositions, including Ode to Joy, Scent of a Woman,andCanon, left the audience spellbound. The harmonious melodies filled the air and transported the listeners to a world of blissful enchantment, evoking a sense of joy and wonder in their hearts.

The stunning performance by the D Tune Chamber Music ensemble left the guests in a state of ecstasy. The beautiful melodies resonated with their souls, providing them with a sense of spiritual freedom and inspiring them to seek out more magnificence and beauty in their lives.

Women’s Banquet Talk

In every person’s life, there exists one or more significant figure who is commonly referred to as“her”. This individual could be the person who sparked their inner awakening, served as a guiding light in their life journey, or offered unwavering support and encouragement.“She” embodies their deepest hopes, aspirations, or ideals, and holds a special place in their heart and memory.

On International Women’s Day, Esther Hall organized a Women’s Banquet Talk and invited guest teachers to share their experiences with students, discuss relevant topics, answer questions, and dispel any doubts that may have arisen.

As night fell, students and guests gathered to chat about the captivating stories of the mysterious women, their thoughts and imaginations fueled by“her” enigmatic tales.

The Dean, Cai Yinghui

Esther Hall has always been a passionate advocate for empowering female university students to enhance their professional competence, innovation consciousness, team spirit, labor creativity, and innovation ability through practical activities and exploration of innovation. These efforts have been instrumental in cultivating the practical abilities and social responsibility of students, nurturing many young women with a strong sense of purpose and ambition.

Dean Cai believes that by highlighting the accomplishments of these exceptional students, they will be inspired to pursue their dreams with courage and determination, pushing themselves beyond their limits and achieving their full potential.

The banquet and talk are intended to serve as a catalyst for positive change, motivating students to return to their studies with renewed vigor and a deeper commitment to their goals. Dean Cai hopes that students will take full advantage of this opportunity, seize the moment, and fearlessly pursue their dreams, making the most of their youth and their potential.

The Dean, Zheng Ruqing

We are honored to welcome the Dean of the Lanyuan Center of Peking University, along with esteemed guests, to this banquet.

The Lanyuan Center, a women’s college established in 2021, has demonstrated a strong commitment to promoting the development of women and strengthening its exchange with the Esther Hall. This collaborative effort is poised to jointly promote the comprehensive development of female university students, and we are excited to witness its progress.

Through this exchange, the Lanyuan Center and the Esther Hall have grown closer, and Dean Zheng has likened the relationship between the two colleges to that of twin sisters. The colleges share a bond of interdependent growth and mutual support, and together, they will flourish and advance.

The mentor, Zhou Zhou

Zhou took the stage and shared a personal story that had a significant impact on his life. He spoke about an influential figure whom he referred to as“her” and his interesting experience as an off-campus mentor at Esther Hall. He encourage the students present to live a wonderful life and to make the most of their spring and autumn years.

The Teacher, Lin Jiali

Lin shared an emotional story about an English teacher who had a profound impact on her. She emphasized that“sometimes a teacher’s unintentional output could be a guiding light for a student”. This reminder encouraged her to be mindful of her actions and words, as they could have a significant impact on her students.

The Teacher, Yang Nan

Yang brought the talk to a close with a touching performance of the songBeautiful. He then engaged in a heartfelt dialogue with the audience, using the power of music to connect with them on a deeper level.

Student Speech

Three students from the STEAM Program who who participated in the Beijing study tour shared their stories and experiences, with workplace gender discrimination being a topic that resonated with many of the students present. This issue has affected them or people they know, and they expressed a desire to contribute to breaking gender biases.

Chen motivated the audience to remain firm and persistent in pursuing their goals. She shared her own success story and emphasized how the results are often worth the effort.

Fan encouraged everyone to bravely challenge themselves, establish a selfless mindset, and strive to become a better version of themselves. She urged them to break through social gender biases and stereotypes.

Qiu urged the students to express their demands boldly and independently, refuse any form of gender discrimination in the workplace, and stand up for their rights. The students who had similar experiences or knew someone who had also agreed with her and expressed hope that society would no longer differentiate between genders.

During the follow-up sharing session, three students shared their stories about a significant person in their lives -“her”. For some,“she” was a relative, while for others,“she” was a teacher. And for some,“she” was their former selves.

One of the students shared a story about“her” who had traveled alone to multiple cities for an exam at the age of eighteen. Despite never having traveled alone before,“she” faced the challenges with a strong and youthful spirit, forging ahead and conquering all obstacles that came her way.

Everyone possesses a youthful spirit at some point in their lives. Though it may fade with time, we can always rediscover that feeling - a carefree and adventurous spirit that will never truly fade away.

Wu shared a heartwarming story about her relationship with her master. Wu’s master helped her to develop the courage to express her love for her family, and Wu emphasized the importance of expressing love openly and bravely.

Another student shared a touching story about her mother’s selfless acts of kindness. This story demonstrated that love is patient and enduring, and that it can exist without any expectation of reward. The story reminded us that love is not just an emotion but a way of being in the world.

To conclude the evening, Yang Qianhua performed a beautiful piano piece titledA Thousand Years, and we all shared this infinitely beautiful evening together.

As we converse, dusk draws near,

Thepiano’s melody fades, beauty beyond compare,Let’s embrace our gains, and journey forth,Towards a shared future, forevermore.
