People yearn for beautiful love, especially young people.
While the acquisition of love belongs to the realm of emotion,
rational understanding and comprehension are also indispensable.
On the afternoon of September 28th,
borrowing the title of the romantic poet Byron’s
poem “Childe Harold's Pilgrimage,”
Esther Hall will hold a lecture titled“ Walking in the Light and Shadow of Love and Beauty,”
hoping to explore with you
the emotional experience and artistic expression in love,
feel the beauty of youth and love,
and discuss the possibilities of intimate relationships.

The lecture will discuss the above themes through three cases:

The Beauty of Concern in Love
The Tragedy of Orpheus in Greek Mythology: If he doesn’t look back, can he save his lover Eurydice? Can he resist looking back?

The Beauty of Perseverance in Love
The Return of Odysseus in Homer’s Epic: After ten years of drifting at sea, he must find his way home and live out his life with Penelope. Can he choose not to go home?
03
The Complex Beauty of Love
The Love of Life and Death in Su Shi’s“Jiangchengzi”. Can we forget without thinking, and can feelings be repaired from forgetfulness?
We will explore these themes in the“Walking in the Light and Shadow of Love and Beauty” lecture at Esther Hall.
